Tango

A few nights ago I went outside to take a group of pictures of Gene in 'Tango.' To get the background effect I wanted, I took the pictures in front of our swimming pool (the 'spa' part of it, that is) and turned the pool lights on. All of the following pictures are the results.

Review and Commentary:

Of all the costumes I got on sale in New Mexico, Tango is the one I expected to like the most (and which I was most interested in, independent of the sale prices), and which I did like the most. It really is a beautiful outfit, and it looks splendid on Simply Gene Raven. I am really happy with this one.

The Dress: The dress is just lovely, with a beaded bodice, two attached stoles, and a long sweeping train, supported by a tulle petticoat. There were only a couple things I didn't like about the dress. The first was the long train, and I have two complaints about it. It's not that it doesn't look nice, but because the skirt falls just below the knees in the front, you can through to the inside of the dress, and therefore, because 'Tango' isn't lined, you can see the hem of the train. Also, the train is so long and sweeping that in real life, it would have taken yards and yards of fabric to make, it would have weighed a ton, it would be impossible to dance in, and it probably would look really silly with the relatively short front part of the dress. However, on a doll, it looks great. My second complain is about the two, long, attached stoles. It's not that they don't look nice, either, but the edge of the fabric (from these two stoles) is sewn onto the end of the halter shoulder-straps, and the way it is done looks really unfinished. I was just surprised by this, because otherwise this is a nice quality dress, although it would have been even nicer if they had lined it.

The Accessories: This dress comes with the disliked ribbon shoes, but in this case, I think the ribbons match the airy look of this dress. I really liked the jewelry for this outfit (hope earrings and moons-and-stars bangle bracelet). Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the bracelet (which I particularly liked, and which, miraculously, I was able to get on Gene's arm).
